Dr. Cornel West, Dietrich Bonhoeffer Professor of Philosophy & Christian Practice at Union Theological Seminary (New York) will offer his reflections on “Prophetic Witness in Our Catastrophic Times.” Dr. West has devoted his career to extending Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy of prophetic and non-violent social change, by highlighting its roots in Athens (philosophy) and Jerusalem (religion), the two pillars of his current position at Union.
The GSU Center for Hellenic Studies is delighted to host Dr. West’s visit, given its commitment to communicating the enduring legacy of Hellenism in relation to local Atlanta history and its vibrant Greek diaspora
