Construction is underway at Woodruff Park!

Woodruff Park will remain open and accessible to the public during construction. Expect construction equipment, construction fencing, and pedestrian detours.  The approved construction work hours are from 7am to 7pm, but please be advised that construction dates and times could vary based on weather and other unforeseen circumstances.

Maintaining the safety of pedestrians, construction crews, and the traveling public is our highest priority.
We kindly ask for your patience and cooperation when traveling through the construction
zone and encourage you to follow all posted signage and crew instructions. 

Park construction is anticipated to be completed by Fall 2026.

Scope of Improvements

The Woodruff Park Accessibility and Activation Project will introduce additional park enhancements and frequently requested amenities aimed at facilitating more programming and activation as well as strengthening public health and safety outcomes in the Park. The scope includes:

• Dog Park: Addition of large and small dog park areas with seating and fencing along with drainage improvements.
• Pathway improvements: ensure a consistent, continuous, smooth, well-maintained paver and/or concrete surface along all pathways. Reinstall or replace damaged, loose, and missing pavers.
• Lighting improvements: refresh existing light poles and luminaires, as needed, and install
  new lighting.
• Playground improvements: refurbish the ATL Playground structure and introduce additional seating options aimed at supporting parents/caregivers.

Background

The Woodruff Park Strategic Plan (2020) developed by CAP/ADID, the City of Atlanta and park stakeholders emphasized the community’s interest in capital improvements and culture offerings.

Beginning in 2021, ADID worked with a consultant to advance a first tranche of capital improvements, the Peachtree Street Accessibility Project, which included removing an exterior barrier wall on the west side of the Park (along Peachtree St.) and a new vehicle-accessible pathway through the central green space to improve visibility and facilitate programming. Construction on the first phase of enhancements was completed in early 2024.

Woodruff Park was awarded funding for the next phase of improvements through Georgia's Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (SLFRF) program, a part of the American Rescue Plan.
