Toxic Charity and the importance of long-term support.

Let's talk about encampments. In my opinion, closing an encampment is only a band-aid solution to a much deeper wound.

I'm excited to share that the ADID Supportive Services team is sporting a new look this season (cues runway music). The team typically shies away from the spotlight, but these regal purple uniforms make them much easier to spot when doing outreach across the 220 blocks of the Downtown Improvement District.

Homelessness is a circumstance, not an identity.
We often hear terms like unhoused, unsheltered, crisis population, chronically homeless, or people experiencing homelessness. These labels attempt to describe people who, at one point or another, had a roof over their heads but are currently finding themselves in a different situation.
