Northside Drive Improvements

Status

Under Construction

Project Overview

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) is in the construction phase for pedestrian safety improvements along Northside Drive between Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Rhodes Street. Along this segment, the project will improve pedestrian comfort and connectivity to the MARTA Vine City rail station, the Mercedes-Benz stadium, and the Georgia World Congress Center facilities.

The two key conceptual elements of the conceptual safety improvements are:

  • Sidewalk widening
  • A raised center median

The total project cost is approximately $13 Million including design, right-of-way, and construction.

Construction is currently scheduled to finish in January 2026.

The segment between Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Rhodes Street is intended to be the first segment in a larger Northside Drive safety improvement project. Funding for additional segments of the roadway is not yet secured.
